NEET PG 2024 Qualifying Percentile Reduced to 5th Percentile Across All Categories

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has once again reduced the qualifying percentile for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. As per the latest update, the qualifying percentile for all categories has been brought down to the 5th percentile.

In an official statement, the MCC announced:

“In continuation of the NBEMS notice dated 06.01.2025 and pursuant to the directions of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, vide its letter No. U.12021/05/2024-MEC dated 20th February 2025, the minimum qualifying percentile for NEET-PG 2024 has been reduced as follows…”

The revised qualifying percentile is now 5th percentile for candidates belonging to the General/EWS, UR-PwBD, and SC/ST/OBC categories, including PwBD candidates from SC/ST/OBC categories. However, the NEET PG 2024 rank and percentile score published by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on August 23, 2024, remain unchanged.

Previous Reductions in NEET PG Cut-off

Earlier this year, the MCC had reduced the NEET PG cut-off across all categories. The general and EWS category candidates scoring 15 percentile and above were initially eligible for counselling. For SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates, the revised cut-off for eligibility was set at 10 percentile and above.

Historical Trends in NEET PG Cut-off Reductions

  • 2023: The qualifying percentile was reduced to zero across all categories.
  • 2022:
    • For general category candidates, the cut-off was reduced from the 50th percentile to the 35th percentile.
    • For unreserved PwD candidates, it dropped from the 45th percentile to the 20th percentile.
    • For SC, ST, and OBC candidates (including PwD), the cut-off was brought down from the 40th percentile to the 20th percentile.
